Black & White Peplum

Happy Monday all! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I totally stole this super cute black and white peplum top from my moms closet (sorry mom!). Anything that is black or white is totally right up my alley so this top was no exception. I paired with my favorite black skinny jeans and some caged heels. This is definitely a great look for a night in the city. Have a great week!

Fall Season Sneak Peak

Happy Friday!
Fall weather has made a slight comeback this week and I've been loving all of the street style outfits starting to incorporate fall trends. This open sweater vest that Jacqueline styled with a contrasting belt is a great casual look and I love how she brought out neutral colors with black. Her shoes are also to die for and available here! We're supposed to see temperatures back in the 90's this weekend, so it looks like my fall essentials will go back into hibernating until next time.

Kimonos & Crop Tops

So when I bought those black booties I've been obsessed with and worn in my last three blog posts at Macy's I also naturally had to buy a pair in a tan neutral color too (hashtag shoe obsessed!). These tan booties are also currently on sale but only until 8/30/15 so get them while they're still only $59.63. And I equally love them as much as my black ones they just haven't been photographed for the blog quite as often. You can find them in this post here paired with a cute romper. A kimono is a great way to transition your summer clothes into fall. I paired my Show Me Your Mumu kimono with a pair of high waisted black shorts, white crop top and of course a pair of ray ban aviators!

Pleasantly Pinning: Fall Hair Transitions

Transitioning from season to season isn't just for the weather, hair and fashion change respectively as well. When you no longer find yourself hanging in the sun, and instead sipping PSL's (Pumpkin Spice Latte's) in a flannel, bleached blonde hair looses its luster. I've gotten the itch to ditch my hue this fall and am experimenting with a couple of the below hair colors. I'm not sure if I'm ready to completely loose my blonde locks, so I'm leaning towards a baylage effect that incorporates darker tones as a base while still keeping light strands. Hoping to try one of them at the saloon soon!

Fall Floral Shorts & Leather Jacket

I love taking pieces that I've had in my closet and transitioning them through different seasons. I found these amazing floral print shorts at Zara a little over a year ago and I love them! The darker floral print makes them a great transition piece for fall. I found similar ones to them and linked to them below. This time I paired them with a black flowy crop top and faux leather cropped jacket. I wasn't lying when I said I was going to be living in these booties lately, hence another blog post with them. They're so versatile, comfortable and only $59.99! Happy Tuesday!

Pineapple Pork Tacos

This past weekend I laid low and BBQ'd on the roof with friends. We were in the mood to try something a little different than your typical burgers and hot dogs. This Pineapple Pork Taco recipe I found from was so good we ate all of them! Not to mention they go great with our Watermelon Sangria Punch (find that recipe here)
Pineapple Pork Tacos:
1 20 ounce can pineapple chunks in juice
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 pound pork tenderloin, cut into 1/2 inch slices
2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
12 corn tortillas, warmed
1/2 red onion, sliced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
lime wedges for serving

  1. Combine 1/2 cup pineapple juice (reserving the chunks), the chili powder, pork, and half the jalapeños in a large resealable plastic bag. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours. Remove the pork from the marinade, shake off the excess liquid, and season with salt.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the pork in batches until just cooked through, 3 to 4 minutes per side, adding the remaining tablespoon of oil between batches. Thinly slice.
  3. Top the tortillas with the pork, pineapple chunks, onion, cilantro, cheese, and the remaining jalapeño.
  4. Serve with the lime wedges.

Currently Craving: Fall Booties

Today I'm a little bootie obsessed since the weather around Chicago has been a bit cooler and a tease for Fall. I've been looking for new pairs to add to my closet and the above picks are some of my favorites. I'm loving western styles with a bit a fringe or rustic leather that looks already worn. Chunky heels are also great! I can't wait to be able to wear some of these soon.
Have a great weekend!

Rompin' At The Races

Happy little Friday! Today's post features my favorite little black romper that I can't seem to get enough of! I love how you can dress it up with a cute pair of heels or dress it down with a pair of sandals or booties. I wore this the other weekend to my friends birthday at Arlington Race Track! It ended up being a beautiful day but was supposed to be gloomy and rainy so I knew I had to wear a hat to control my frizz! My purse gives it that extra pop of color to my otherwise black outfit. These booties have been on repeat and I'm totally okay with it! Have a great day all!
