I have to admit, I was a tea lover before ever being a coffee lover. Although I love them both for different reasons, I believe tea is good at anytime of the day. I blame this in part to my English Grandmother who taught me all of her tea time ways (and why I always thought it was normal to put milk in my tea until recently!). Below are some of my favorite places to get tea around the city, if you haven't tried any of these yet, I strongly encourage you to venture out!
BEE & TEA
Locations: Deapul, 818 W. Fullerton Ave or Wicker Park, 1843 W North Ave,
Now, This is a new one I've recently tried and even if you're not a fan of boba teas, you can ask for it without AND they have some of the best Acai bowls! My favorite flavors so far have been the Chai Five (black milk tea and almond chai) and Mangolychous (Green milk tee, mango and lychee).
DAVIDsTEA
Locations: 1645A Northa Damen, 924 West Armitage, 3530 North Southport, Millennium Park Plaza, and Water Tower Place
I stumbled upon Davids at work on afternoon and found that they have many stores in the Chicago area. Davids is great because you can pretty much customize any order: iced, hot, latte, and even a tea pop (which is kind of like soda but with tea). They also have great tea wear to buy to create your own tea at home, which is a bonus! My favorite being the Matcha Maker.
Peets Coffee & Tea
Locations: Various Chicagoland locations, find yours here
Peets coffee is one of my favorites, but what I love even more is their tea. I love the old school coffee house feel of Peets, and how it doesn't make you feel like your standing in a corporate chain. The atmosphere is perfect for studying, getting work done or just stopping in to grab a drink! My favorite tea of theirs is Lemon Rose herbal tea, perfect iced or hot!
The Coffee & Tea Exchange
Locations: 3311 North Broadway
This has to be the mecca of tea shops. They are a family owned small business that specializes in the roasting of coffee and trade of tea. They pretty much have whatever you could need and if they don't, you can request it!
Adagio Teas
617 N. State Street
What I love most about this tea shop are it's employees. They are helpful and super friendly! they make it feel less like shopping and more of a tea experience. If you go here, make sure you ask one of them for advice on your tea choice, they may steer you to a tea you never thought you would try!
