Neutral Shoes

I was recently going through my closet and deciding what shoes I did and didn't need anymore, which is not something I look forward to at all, but needs to be done. So often I end up keeping everything because I can't bare to part with any of them. I think that if I ever get to the point that I can't decided which pairs to keep that I will need to bring in outside help to take care of it for me, but for now I stick to color, style and the upcoming season for help on the purge.

Casual Wrap Coat

Because of the warmer winter we've been having, I'm seriously obsessed with this wrap coat (posted here as well). It's perfect for staying warm while utilizing layers you can take off throughout the day. I've also really been into mixing neutrals together; I love how different shades look so much different but can be so cohesive in an outfit.

Work it Out

A new year means new resolutions for yourself and body for many people. Although a fresh start is never a bad idea, I always try to make it a point to better myself through out the entire year, rather than for just a month exactly after midnight on NYE. In doing so, have found a love for all athletic gear - and gym shoes! I find myself going for these clothes in my closet sans work out and couldn't believe how many chic choice there are now a days! I usually opt for white, black or gray color combos, but patterns and pops of color are always a fresh look! Below are some of my favorite items that may look familiar from appearances on my Instagram.

Grayed Out

Monochromatic grays are my favorite. Gray isn't so intense that it makes you look like you're trying to set a mood or have an agenda. There are also so many different shades you can mix and match well.

Sweatshirt + Sneakers

This past weekend in Chicago was a cold one, and I mean really cold. Thankfully I have a winter coat for every degree drop that happens and this Calvin Klein packable down coat can go anywhere with me easily. I love dressing in sportswear even when I'm not headed to the head. Sweatshirts and sneakers may seem like the most unfashionable pair, however I love finding a great graphic print and Nike sneakers are almost being worn just as much as heels these days. Neutrals are best for a day running errands and this Athleta zip snood kept me seriously warm and cozy while walking around outside. Not only do I love it for walking around on Saturday mornings but it's also great running accessory for cold months. The reversibility of it is a plus!

Sunnies Style

Sunglasses are the perfect accessory for any season, and with all the diverse styles, colors and frames, your choices are endless. Since I have a smaller face, my five favorite styles aren't too bulky or big; I need frames that accentuation my cheek bones instead of hide them. Aviator's that are wider than they are long are perfect! These ray bans aren't technically the classic aviator style, but still hint at it with the wire bar frame and keep my face from being hidden. Flash lenses are also a must for summer months and the tortuous shell pattern never goes out of style for me.

Shop all of the above styles here plus more of my favorites that I have my eye on, and if you're into renting endless designer eye wear, DITTO has all of your needs! Sign up here for only $24/month and use my code, PLEASANTLYPETITE, for your first month free! Shades of Red

Nothing makes me happier than an ombrè line of lipsticks. I love having different shades for every occasion, outfit and time of day. My favorite red, Pirate from Chanel (although pricey) is so rich and stays on all night long, but is too much for a morning at the office. Below are all of my favorite shades, brands and when to wear em' and how to get em' for yourself!

Revlon Honey Bare: I love nudes for morning or work. This color has a hint of pink to offset the nude color which makes for a bright lip look. For a drugstore brand, it is also super moisturizing although not too sheer at a great price!

MAC Creme Cup: I may be biased but this is my favorite shade of pink because its not too much for my skin tone. MAC is also a brand that has matte looks that don't look too dry throughout the day.

NARS Sex Machine: Aside from NARS always having the most outrageous product names, this color is a ruby pink that is great from happy hour to date night. I carry it with me for when I'm on the go and don't have time to head home and re-do my make-up for a night out.

Chanel ROGUE ALLURE Luminous intense lip colour in Pirate: I stand by this lipstick's quality and pray it's never discontinued. Although many prefer the most matte look, I like this rich of a color in a sheer so that it doesn't look as if it were painted on. Pirate really is the perfect red!

Revlon Black Cherry: On the total opposite spectrum from the nude color, I love this burgundy for many of the same reasons. However, I wouldn't recommend it during the morning - this is the girls night, vacation, smoky eye combo look you've always wanted.

Plaid Flannel

I love mixing and matching different prints, it brings such a level of dimension to an outfit. Since this plaid shirt is pretty subtle, I paired it with cream color snake skin shoes to bring out the cream color in the pattern. I also love this wrap wool coat. It keep you so warm without needing a bulky puffer jacket on cold days.

Winter White

Word to the wise: never take your coat off in the winter! I made this mistake for the sake of fashion because I just couldn't not share this winter white favorite. I love cream colors in winter as they feel so clean and fresh, when you otherwise feel drag and dreary. This chunky knit sweater is the perfect shade of cream to pull off this look and so warm as well! Also, if you're in the market for a new winter coat (many are on sale!) I recommend you pick a long one with a hood lined in faux fur, this one keeps me warm and looking great during the winter months.

Beauty in the Bag

I always keep a small beauty bag with me at all times (during the day) for touch ups, refreshers, or spontaneous sleep overs at Ryan's place. The products I put in there are on constant rotation and this month these are my favorite beauty finds that I'm swearing by.

Urban Decay Naked 2 eye pallet: I love this pallet for it's golden neutrals that brighten up any dreary or tired eyes. I stare at a computer for most of my work day, and although these shadow stay on really well (especially with this primer), I like to touch it up on my way out for the night as a refresher, especially if I have something special going on!

Clean, White Woods: I like to have a scent on me throughout the day. This one by Clean smells like summer in a bottle and picks up my mood the instant I smell it. With notes of sandalwood and amber woods, It's comforting and warm during these cold months.

Lancome BI-FACIL Double Acting Eye Make-up Remover: I always used drug store brand make up remover until my Sister gifted my the Lancome gift set for Christmas this year. Although this tube is small, it is mighty at getting any oil, dirt and make up off in a synch.  I also love how it's gentle formula leave my eyes feeling soft and smooth enough that I don't need to apply eye cream at night.

Lancome GRANDIOSE Wide Angle Fan Effect Mascara: This mascara is as cool as it sounds. The angled brush makes it extremely easy for fast application without needing to stick your neck out and tilt your head at odd angles. I've even used this applicator while in a moving car, and it never smeared! The make-up itself stay lusciously wet looking throughout the day without getting clumps or dry.

NARS, Deep Throat Blush: However embarrassing the name might be to say out loud, this blush doesn't mess around. It stays put where ever you apply it and the color is bright and warm without being over bearing. I like to pair it with my bronzer to achieve a more sun kissed look.

As for the accessories, my current Zac Posen go to sunglasses are via DITTO, which you can learn about from my post here. I love the tortoise shell pattern and semi cat eye to accentuate my eye line. My bracelet is the Jamie Gold Bracelet in Platinum Drusy by Kendra Scott, which I've really been into lately! Her stones are stunning. She is currently having a big online sale on most of her coveted items from last year, check it out here!

Orange + Blue Cape

This is a color combo I love! When I first saw this cape at H&M, I knew I had to have it. Not only was it amazing for Fall, but the colors also help as a pick me up in winter when I shamelessly resort to wearing all black. I contrasted the brighter orange color with a burnt brown that complimented it nicely; it was a great change of pace! Shop this entire outfit below!

Wrap Aztec Sweater

For the Holiday's, I spent about two weeks back home with my family and boyfriend (Ryan) and loved getting to take a break from city life to recharge and be outside in all of the fresh snow. Although the weather took a turn and was pretty cold, this double knit aztec sweater kept me warm enough to venture outside. I love the black and white contrast and, as someone who's always cold, I loved being warm even more! Also, over the knee boots are here to stay in this new year. I've had my Chinese Laundry wedge suede boots for sometime, however the style can be found in almost any loved brand. The greatest thing about OTK's is how they elongate short legs. Being petite, I was a little turned off to this style for fear they would cut me in an awkward way, however they do the exact opposite! The black color also creates a slim look even more. You can shop my outfit directly below!
