I hope you all had a great Valentines day weekend with your loved ones! I'm back from my vacation break and will be updating you all on my trip this week! Lately, I've been receiving a lot of questions about how I prep for a blog shoot, so today's post is all about my necessities for what I use to get ready and pack to take with me for blog photo shooting days.
I always make sure I take certain essentials with me so that I am prepared for anything that may come up. Depending on whether I'm shooting close by, or headed somewhere in the car, I pile all of my products into a bag or clutch that I'll be using for a prop (killing two birds with one stone) and that way the bag looks full and not flat and drab. The above Gigi New York Teddie Tote is one I use frequently as it's large enough to hold everything and the leather pattern is so unique! It's currently on sale and you can find it here in many different colors!
In the Bag:
Blush + Lipstick | I always bring the beauty products I am using along for the ride in case I need a touch up (which I most definitely do at some point). If I'm shooting outside the elements can really effect how you face looks and having extra products on hand helps make you always look freshly done up.
My go-to: Nars blush in Deep Throat & Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dusty Rose
Sunglasses | These are a big need for me. If you've seen my about me, you know that I don't feel like my outfit is complete without the addition of sunglasses. I kind of feel naked without them, and they give my outfits that extra oomph.
My go-to: I currently am working with DITTO on their Endless Eye wear program and am in love with how many times I can trade out my favorite pair of sunnies. If you love sunglasses as much as I do, sign up for DITTO using my code PLEASANTLYPETITE to get your first month free! It is only $24 a month there after and trust me, as a big sunglasses geek, I haven't found a better deal yet!
Camera | What camera I use on shoots is always a big question that I get and if I'm not having a professional shoot my photos, then I bring along my Nikon D3100 Digital SLR. It creates amazing quality photos and videos and you don't need to be an expert to use it! While I mostly taught myself the ropes, my Mom and boyfriend, Ryan, (who are usually behind the camera) always rave about how easy it is for them to use.
My go-to: Nikon D3100 Digital SLR
Facial Cleansing Wipes | I sometimes do more than one outfit shoot in one day, and that can call for different beauty looks. These Oil-free make up removing wipes are quick acting and take off make-up in a synch. They also smell amazingly like grapefruit and leave my face feeling fresh and ready for new make-up application.
My go-to: Neutrogena Oil-Free Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes
Body Spray | Even though I know you as my readers can't smell me through my blog, I feel like smelling great really gets me in the mood to look my best. It's really important to portray a mood in your photos and when I feel good, I look good and that gets the right message across to all of you!
My go-to: Bodycology Sweet Love Fragrance (sold out online but available at Target or Walmart) but I also love their Cherish the Moment
Headphones | If I am traveling far, I always like to listen to great tunes to amp me up for the shoot. Listening to music really sets the mood for what I'm about to do next and helps my creative juices start flowing.
My go-to: FRENDS Taylor headphones
iPad | Although my phone never leaves my side, it's nice to have my iPad around to research shooting locations, the weather, and have my blog page pulled up to make sure the aesthetics of my photos match my brand. I'm always trying to provide the best quality of content and this is an important tool in helping me do so!
My Go-to: Apple's Gold iPad Air 2 + Wifi & Apple Smart Case in Pale Pink
